What nurses say about Medical Center of the Rockies
See what nurses say about working at Medical Center of the Rockies:
Charmaine Pankewicz, RN On MCR operating rooms
"Anything can look good on the outside ...it's what's inside that counts! MCR has it all from top to bottom. It is what we do inside to provide the world-class healthcare that makes us different.
I have never worked anywhere where the equipment and technology was this advanced. (Charmaine has worked in nine different hospital operating rooms in Canada and the U.S.) The equipment makes my job physically easier which will enable me to nurse longer.
I know my opinion counts. This is an unbelievable place where people truly care about their patients. The staff buys into the vision. I was skeptical at first when I was at orientation because I've heard it before. But I found it was all true. They really do mean what they say."
Roger Heins, RN On MCR operating rooms
"I wanted a change of pace. The OR is very different from providing bedside care on a floor. Medical Center of the Rockies gave me that opportunity.
The beauty of working for Poudre Valley Health System is it allows you to try different things.
Even when I was new here at MCR, when I‘d walk through the halls people would say 'Hi, Roger.' We have a warm, family atmosphere."
Becki Hoyle, RN, CPAN, CAPA SAC/PACU clinical nurse educator
"There's a real teamwork atmosphere between departments. Everyone works hard towards the same goal: giving the best patient care we can in a family-centered environment.
We are striving to make MCR the best it can be. Everyone has had the opportunity for real input.
A big draw for nurses is education. PVHS values education highly and this reputation for having a culture of learning has spread in the nursing community. "
Lisa Faus, RN, CEN Quality resources specialist, Q/A
"I transferred from Poudre Valley Hospital after working as an ED staff nurse for about five years. I was looking to try something new. An educator role came up as an opportunity at MCR at the right time. I've enjoyed building and integrating relationships, orientation schedules and classes.
We were given a blank canvas. We were able to question ideas and how we should do things, really looking and questioning: What is the best way to make this concept a reality?
We continuously have a lot of opportunities to be involved: committees, projects, teaching. If you have a special interest, there is bound to be a way within PVHS to pursue it."
Damien Berg Supervisor, sterile processing
"Opening the hospital was an incredible challenge. I could be part of something new. It's a legacy thing. I can always say I was part of this.
I loved the pure challenge. Nothing about opening a hospital is mundane, easy, or predictable.
Senior Management has engaged our leadership to be better leaders. We get opportunities to develop new skills."
