Healthy Hearts Club Health Education and Screening Program
To prevent, educate, and screen for risk factors for heart and vascular conditions, the Heart Center of the Rockies and the PVH Foundation sponsor the Healthy Hearts Club program. Created by Heart Center cardiologist Gary Luckasen MD, the program focuses on healthy eating, exercise, avoiding tobacco products and facilitating access to preventive screening. Healthy Hearts Club offers cholesterol/blood pressure screenings to participating students and adults. With the help of teachers, nurses and volunteers, the program teaches students about their own hearts and how diet and lifestyle choices affect their health. Several thousand students have participated in this program since 1992. For more information, call the Heart Center of the Rockies at 970.297.6059.
