Experience Matters - Rocky Mountain Robotics Institute
Poudre Valley Health System was one of the first to bring the medical robot to Colorado and the seven-state Rocky Mountain region.
Pioneering the application of the robot in gynecology and urology, we now offer patients one of the region's most comprehensive and experienced programs, with a broad range of expertise in gynecology, urology, thoracic and general surgeries.
The medical robot is a major advancement that gives patients the most minimally invasive options available for certain types of surgery. Robotic surgical incisions in the body are like tiny "keyholes" and no longer than a few millimeters. These smaller incisions reduce the impact of surgery on the body. And though small, the robotic instruments greatly increase the surgeon's precision, range of motion and ability to see the surgical field, so complex procedures achieve maximum accuracy.
The PVHS robotics program is now named Rocky Mountain Robotics Institute and spans our two hospitals. PVHS invested in three medical robots: two located at Poudre Valley Hospital and one at Medical Center of the Rockies.
Patients have the option of having their robotic surgery at the hospital of their choice (and with their doctor's recommendation and availability). Both hospitals have teams of expert surgeons, technicians and nurses dedicated to the robotic specialties.
Benefits and Advantages of Robotic Surgery As the latest advancement in minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgeries typically offer:
- Less pain
- Decreased risk of infection
- Less anesthesia
- Less blood loss
- Shorter hospital stay
- Faster recovery
- Quicker return to normal activities
