LAP-BAND® surgery is a less invasive, less complicated procedure than gastric bypass surgery. As a result, LAP-BAND surgery risks and complications are few.

Risks and Complications After LAP-BAND Surgery

LAP-BAND surgery risks and complications at the Bariatric Center of the Rockies include:

• Slippage (stomach gets under the band): less than 3 percent
• Erosion (band wears into stomach): less than 1 percent
• Perforation: 0 percent.

All complications are treatable through laparoscopic surgery to replace, repair or remove the band.
