Outpatient Surgery
More and more tests and treatments have become available on an outpatient basis. This means very few people spend the night in the hospital. We offer a variety of outpatient services to treat conditions like urinary incontinence, infertility, endometriosis, pelvic mass, chronic pelvic pain, uterine fibroid, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic prolapse as well as uterine, ovarian and cervical cancers. These surgical services include:
Pelvic Laparoscopy (Pelviscopy)
Laparoscopy is a way of performing a surgery. Instead of making a large incision (or cut) for certain operations, surgeons make small incisions and insert instruments and a camera into the pelvic region, to view the internal organs and repair or remove tissue. Common laparoscopic procedures performed by gynecological surgeons are tubal sterilization, removal of ovary, and diagnosis for reason of abdominal pain.
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy provides a way for your physician to look inside your uterus. A hysteroscope is a thin, telescope-like instrument that is inserted into the uterus through the vagina and cervix. This tool often helps a physician diagnose or treat a uterine problem.
Dilatation and Curettage (D & C)
This is a procedure to scrape the uterine lining, often to control bleeding after a miscarriage or to diagnose or treat abnormal uterine bleeding. The D & C is one of the most common GYN operative procedures. Dilation and Curettage also provides important information about whether uterine cancer is present.
Cystoscopy/Urology
A lighted instrument called a cystoscope allows your doctor to look at the inside of the bladder and the urethra. The cystoscope is inserted into your urethra (the transport tube leading from the bladder to discharge urine outside the body) and slowly advanced into the bladder. Cystoscopy allows your doctor to look at areas of your bladder and urethra that usually do not show up well on X-rays.
Robotic Surgery
Surgeons use a surgical robotic system for certain gynecological operations. The system, which assists with minimally-invasive surgeries, can help reduce pain, bleeding, and scarring for patients, and bring a faster recovery. The type of procedure would determine if you would be discharged home the day of surgery or if you would need to stay in the hospital.
