Kay Miller, MS, RN, NE-BC, CENP, became vice president/chief nursing officer at Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR) in 2005 after a lengthy career at Poudre Valley Hospital (PVH).
Ms. Miller began her nursing career in 1976 at St. Luke's Hospitals in Fargo, N.D. She joined PVH in 1981 as a staff nurse on the orthopedics unit. She rose through the ranks becoming a head nurse for the neurosciences unit in the same year, and then a department director for what became PVH's Regional Neurosciences Center. She holds a bachelor's of science in nursing from the University of Wyoming and a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. Ms. Miller is ANCC and AONE certified in executive nursing practice.
Ms. Miller represents PVHS on the Imaging Center Board of Directors, serves on the Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee, and the Medical Center of Rockies Foundation Business Relations Committee. She also serves on the Centennial Area Health Education Center Nightingale Selection Committee and the VHA Mountain States CNO Network Committee.
Ms. Miller's professional memberships include the American Nurses Association, the Colorado Nurses Association, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Colorado Society of Nurse Executives, the VHA Mountain States CNO Collaborative, and Sigma Theta Tau (nursing honor society). She is also an active member of the CSU Ram Booster Club and the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
