Nursing excellence: Medical Center of the Rockies earns Magnet recognition
Medical Center of the Rockies earned the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet designation in 2010. The Magnet Recognition Program recognizes excellence in nursing services and is considered the gold standard for nursing practice.
MCR is the first hospital in Loveland, Colo., to earn the Magnet honor and the eighth in Colorado. Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo., also part of PVHS, was the first Magnet hospital in Colorado.
About 6 percent of the nation's 6,000 hospitals have earned the Magnet designation.
Magnet recognition is based on five components:
- Transformational leadership
- Structural empowerment
- Exemplary professional practice
- New knowledge, innovations and improvement
- Empirical quality outcomes
