Poudre Valley Health System CEO Rulon Stacey hopes video of his colonoscopy will raise awareness about the ease and importance of the procedure.
Last year Stacey turned 50, the age at which the American College of Gastroenterology recommends people begin regular screening for colon cancer. Stacey recorded and posted the video of his colonoscopy to YouTube and his blog, Visionary Healthcare, today.
Citing a survey by the Colon Cancer Alliance, the New York Times reported Jan. 20 that fear is the biggest reason people don't get colonoscopies.
In his blog, Stacey said the video shows "it is not as bad as people make it out to be, and it very literally could save your life."
