Kevin Unger, president and CEO of Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo., has been elected the American College of Healthcare Executives regent for Colorado.
Unger, who took office March 20 during the ACHE’s annual Congress on HealthCare Leadership in Chicago, will oversee the organization’s Colorado chapter for the next three years.
The ACHE offers educational programs and career development.
“All of this we do as a way to continue to improve health care,” Unger said. “Excellence in health care begins at the top of an organization.”
An ACHE fellow, Unger has been the president and CEO of the 295-bed regional acute care hospital since 2005.
He is the 2009 recipient of the Robert S. Hudgens Award for Young Healthcare Executive of the Year. The national award is given to the single best healthcare administrator under the age of 40 within the American College of Healthcare Executives organization.
Under his leadership, PVH has received two dozen national awards as one of the nation's top healthcare organizations.
