Weld Food Bank and Poudre Valley Medical Group will unveil a new truck on Monday, Jan. 23. The truck was purchased with funds from a recent donation of $100,000 by Poudre Valley Health System.
During the unveiling, Russ Branzell, CEO of Poudre Valley Medical Group, will present a check to Weld Food Bank in order to help "fill the truck".
At the same event, additional money raised by physicians and staff at Greeley Medical Clinic will also be presented to the food bank to be used to purchase food for families in need.
"The doctors and staff at Greeley Medical Clinic are committed to helping their community. This partnership with Weld Food Bank allows us to help families and children outside of our clinic doors," said Branzell.
The truck, which brings the Weld Food Bank fleet to four, arrived during the holidays and allows the food bank to reach farther into Weld County and establish new partnerships resulting in an increase in donations from retailers, restaurants and farmers. The food bank will also be able expand its Backpack and Kids Cafe programs and feed additional hungry children. The new truck, retrofitted with a generator, will be able to safely transport hot meals to children and also be used in times of emergency to get hot food to those impacted, volunteers and first responders.
